What does Self-Compensating mean?

WarmFoot heated floor mats use a patented Positive Temperature Coefficient self-compensating heating element that changes power output with ambient temperature. At higher ambient temperatures, the self-compensating heater reduces its power output, saving you energy and preventing the heater from getting too hot. At lower temperatures, it puts out more heat, allowing your feet to be comfortable over a wider temperature range than non-self-compensating heated mats.

5No problem with cold concrete floors any more....

The heating system failed in our building, and it was miserable working on those cold concrete floors. This solved my problem. I could work with my coat on, but my feet were so awfully cold until I got this. Will keep it around for next time the heater fails...
